About SLC

Bedok North Secondary School Service Learning Club won 2 meritorious awards at the inaugural PAYM Service Learning Festival 2009. In the community-level category, the winning project was the "Are YOUths Stressed?" forum. SLC students were mentored by their YEC counterparts.
In 2006, PAYM embarked on Service Learning Club, a co-curricular activity (CCA) that is endorsed by the Ministry of Education. This aims to provide holistic development in youths and to inculcate resilience, discipline and a spirit of service to community.
At present, Eunos CC YEC is working with Bedok North Secondary School SLC.
Members of the Service Learning Club can organize and spearhead a wide variety of interesting projects for the school and community by tapping on their own talents and initiatives and on the experiences and resources beyond the school.

Apart from learning opportunities, Service Learning Club are involved in activities at the school and community and with the PAYM. Members of Service Learning Club organise one school-based or community event and participate in two of such events per semester and they can work closing with their mentors - YEC members or other grassroots organisations. Through jointly organised community events, members learn lifelong lessons which are as important as those taught in the classroom.
