1) Sear Hock Rong, 27, Civil Servant (Member) Hock Rong started volunterring at the age of 14. He was Ping Yi Secondary School’s Head Media Prefect and one of the youngest recipients of the National Youth Achievement Award (Gold Level). During his diploma studies, he was elected of Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) Students’ Union Executive Committee and Vice-Presidents/Treasurer of NP Early Childhood Society. He also represented Singapore at several youth conferences and overseas exchange programmes. Today, Hock Rong is a member of the PAYM Central Youth Council and NYAA Gold Award Holders’ Alumni Executive Committee. He also represents the youth in several Grassroots Organizations such as Citizen’ Consultative Committee and Residents’ Committee, contributing ideas and feedback to make Eunos Constituency a better place to live in. Hock Rong join Eunos Community Club Youth Executive Committee (YEC) 2006. Over the years, he and his friends had organised many interesting activities such as YouthOUT! and North East Celebrates! Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games for thousands of residents. For his active contributions to the community, he was conferred the Stars of SHINE Favorite Nominee Award in 2009. He hopes to continue to service in the YEC to promote youth involvement and active citizenry. Other Appointments:
2) Fong Yoong Kheong, 26, Industrial Relations Officer (Vice-Chairman) Yoong Kheong’s foray into leadership began when he became the Chairman of Damai Secondary School Audio Visual Club. The exposure enabled him to assume various leadership roles, serving as Chairman of the Temasek JC Photographic Society and Publicity Director for the NUS Students’ Political Association Policy Studies Committee 2009. Yoong Kheong joined the YEC, with the purpose in contributing back to society. He believes strongly in the need to instill a sense of belonging among youths by bring neighbours together. Having participated in various international exchange programmes such as the 37th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) 2010, a 53-days goodwill mission to Japan and Southeast Asia, and the 21st IAVE World Conference 2011, Yoong Kheong believes that youths should be provided as many platforms as possible to grow and develop. He engages youths via RC Youth Chapter and working with wayward youths as a Volunteer Probation Officer. He is also the Honorary Assistant General Secretary of the Federation of Youth Club, Singapore. Other Appointments:
3) Kam Chee Lee, 29, Senior Pharmacy Technician (Chairman) Chee Lee is currently working as a Senior Pharmacy Technician at Gleneagles Hospital. Three years ago, after joining a trip of Southern Ridges with the Youth Executive Committee, he was inspired by the selflessness shown by the volunteers and thus he joined the 13th term Eunos Youth Executive Committee as a Treasurer. Throughout his two years as Treasurer, he has picked up many soft skills, made many new friends with the same passion to serve the residents as a grassroots leader, as a PA Volunteer. Thus, Chee Lee has decided to continue on serving the community for another 2 years. Other Appointments:
4) Pang Toh Wee, 23, Draftsman (General Secretary) Toh Wee is currently serving his scholarship at Keppel FELS as a senior draftsman. “Serving the community, rather than waiting to see what the community can do for us” is what Toh Wee stongly believes in. Living in Eunos for almost 23 years, Toh Wee have seen the transformation of Eunos and have the urge to make Eunos a more enthusiastic place to live in. Toh Wee was the Assistant Treasurer for the 13th term YEC. Being actively involved in community work, Toh Wee assisted in organising various community activities like International Friendship Day and he was the emcee for a National Day campfire event. He is also a very active Scout Leader serving the scout unit in his alma mater, Manjusri Secondary School. He is very passionate in teaching and instilling positive values in youths. Having different work experience as a camp instructor and relief teacher, it enhances his capabilities in communicating with the youths and understands them better. Toh Wee hopes to stay in the YEC to continue giving his time and effort to make Eunos more vibrant and also wish to engage more youths into serving the community.
5) Khoo Yi Feng, 22, Student (Assistant General Secretary) Yi Feng is a 21 year-old eager to out what university life will entail. He enjoy spending his free time befriending the Chinatown elderly and pursuing Taekwondo. Having been in the 13th term YEC, he felt that is was a journey that was nothing short of eye-opening. Having the opportunity to work with various members, in planning and executing events, as well as learn from senior grassroots leaders, he had been offered an insight to the silent but inspiring tale of community “champion” who believe in making personal sacrifices and willingly to give up their time to make the place everyone call home a more vibrant and cohesive place to live in. Volunteering in the YEC has given him plenty of exposure but fundamentally, he has not lost sight of the reason for wanting to do so. 2 years ago. Yi Feng said “starting out” think of what you can do for the world”. That was his compass, but 2 years on, he asked again for the chances to join the YEC so as to “bring people together” and promote better understanding be it across races, cultures or social strata. 6) Ng Wei Peng, Jordan, 18, Student (Assistant General Secretary) Jordan is currently studying in Raffles Institution (Junior College). For the past 1 year, he had actively and frequently devoted his time to Eunos CC YEC and Eunos Zone ‘1’ RC. He had also participated in various forms of community involvement projects both in his school and various PA grassroots organizations. He believe that in his past 1 year of experience with the YEC, he had learnt a lot and had also realized that there are many other areas in our community which he wants to engage and interact with. His experiences have made him appreciated what he has and inspired him to seek ways help and inspire other young residents living in Eunos. Jordan enjoys spending time with his family and Eunos is his home. He hopes to continue serving in the YEC and do his part to make Eunos a better home for everyone.
7) Koh Jia Jia, Jasmine, 26, Marketing Executive (Assistant General Secretary) Jasmine has lived in Eunos for 10years and recently started community work by serving at Eunos Zone 6 Residents’ Committee as Treasurer. Having been in the symphonic band during her secondary and junior college days, she has grown to love and appreciate music and also, team work. Coupled with the interest in making new friends and organizing events, she looks forward to work with the YEC team in creating more awareness and enthusiasm amongst youths for community service via activities and events. Jasmine is new to youth work but, she decided to step forward, as she feels it is time for her to start contributing back to the system she had benefited from. She feels so privileged to be given the opportunity to learn from those around her who have contributed immensely to youth development and working together with them to create a better Singapore. 8) Tan Kai Ming, 29, Sales Executive (Treasurer) Kai Ming started volunteering at the Meet-the-People sessions since early January 2010. Later, he joined the grassroots movement and was appointed Assistant Secretary of Eunos Zone 8 Residents’ Committee. Through his grassroots involvement, he had made many friends. It is these friends who have encouraged him to join Eunos CC YEC. Kai Ming wants to do more for the community and play his part to make Eunos a vibrant place to live in. Currently, Kai Ming works as a Sales Engineer with a local MNC company and during his free time, he would play his favourite sports of badminton or golf. He hopes to be able to promote these two sports to more youths in the near future. Kai Ming wants make up for lost time in volunteering as he considers himself as a late starter, and he hopes to encourage more young people to volunteer their time and give back to the society. 9) Mohd Darwin Bin Mohd Nasir, 28, Flight Operations Officer (Assistant Treasurer) Darwin started volunteering with Eunos Zone 3 Residents’ Committee in 2010. When he was in Temasek Polytechnic, he was a committee member of the Japanese Culture Group and still serving as an Alumni Advisor. Today, Darwin is working as a Flight Operations Officer and he enjoys meeting people from all over the world and learning about their interesting cultures. Darwin decided to join Eunos CC YEC as he has a dream of bringing together people from all walks of life, regardless of race, language or religion in multi-racial Singapore. He wants to show the world that Singapore is an inclusive society where everyone can live in peace and harmony. He hopes to serve in the YEC and contribute towards the community. Other Appointments:
10) Tan Jun Hong, 29, Student (Honorary Auditor) Throughout Jun Hong’s tenure with National Youth Achievement Award Council, working closely with the many youth volunteers had given him another perspective of volunteer works. The passion and dedicated youths had thus taught him the importance of serving the community. A vast experience gained over the years with National Youth Achievement Award Council had sharpened Jun Hong leadership and supervisory skills. He had frequently put his leadership and public relation skills to use in coordinating and organising of large-scale events. Jun Hong hopes to continue to put his skills into practice and give back to the society.
11) Teo Wei Kiat, 17, Public Servant (Social Development Secretary)
Wei Kiat is currently a student councillor in East View Secondary School. Last year, he was selected for a service learning trip to The Philippines to help needy students paint the school. Wei Kiat also volunteers with Eunos Zone 2 Residents’ Committee and Eunos Community Emergency & Engagement Committee. Most recently, he received a certificate for taking part in a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training programme. During his term of service as a YEC member, Wei Kiat organised meaningful activities such as “Eunos Got Talent” to celebrate Children’s Day, and fun walk to MacRitchie Reservoir to promote healthy living. He also participated in Chingay 2011 and various district-level constituency-level events. Wei Kiat hopes to continue engaging the youths in Eunos and encourage more young residents to come forward to serve the community. Other Appointment:
12) Lim Zheng Hao, 19 , Student (Environment Secretary) Zheng Hao is currently studying in Nanyang Polytechnic. He is a multi-talented youth who has an interest in IT and current affairs. Zheng Hao was a Unit Drill Instructor with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Siglap Secondary School. As a NCC Cadet, he undergone the Senior Specialist Course and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also the Chairman of the School’s Media Resource Club and a student councilor. In 2007, he was selected to participate in the Outward Bound School programme and a service learning trip to Cambodia to help to build extra rooms for the local orphans. Zheng Hao is also proud member of the Tian Eng Dragon & Lion Dance School and he was part of the cast for a popular local movie, for the show, It’s A Great Great World (大世界)
13) Low Jia Hao, 17, Student (Service Learning Secretary) Jia Hao is currently studying in Bedok North Secondary School. He was a member of the school’s service Learning Club, which clinched the PAYM SLC Project Accolade in 2009 and 2010, and a student leader in the National Police Cadet Corps. For his contributions towards the school. Jia Hao received the CCA Excellence Award for “Sportacular & YouthOUT! 2010”, a major community event organized to celebrate Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games , which attracted almost 2000 residents. He also assisted in many YEC activities organized by Eunos CC Youth Club. Jia Hao has a passion for serving the community and he hopes to do his part to make Eunos a vibrant place to live in. He looks forward to work together with fellow youth volunteers to reach out to more youths and organized meaningful events to promote social cohesion and racial harmony.
14) Norizam Bin Baharon, 17 Student (Social & Community Service Secretary) Norizam was the President of Bedok North Secondary School Service Learning Club. One of the project that he and his peers had embarked on during his term of service was “Sportacular and YouthOUT! 2011.” The main objectives of this events were to get the youth involved and showcase their talents. Norizam learnt many things from organizing this mega event. He learnt event planning and conflict management skills, as well as the importance of working together. He realized that good team work is important and his involvement with the Service Learning Club had transformed him into a better person and better team player. Norizam has a passion for working with people and he wants to do his best to engage the youth and elderly. Norizam looks forward to learning new skills and contribute towards the community thought Eunos CC YEC.
15) Noor Abdillah Bin Ali, 22, Library Officer (Recreation Secretary) Abdillah is currently working as a Library Officer in Woodlands Secondary School. He was Assistant Treasurer in the 13th term Eunos CC YEC. Being part of YEC, he found joy and many fruitful moments where everyone worked together as a team to engage the youth. Abdillah participated in many GRC-level and Constituency-level events and he was the Organizing Chairman for a Hari Raya Party for more than 150 Eunos residents. Abdillah hope to continue to serve in the YEC and encourage more young people to participate in community activities.
16) Choong Pei Wen, 18, Student (Children’s Programme Secretary) Pei Wen is currently studying in Temasek Junior College. She believes that youths today have lots of potential and the only way for this potential to be unleashed, there have to be a platform where they can have the freedom to express and execute their ideas. Pei Wen is glad that her parents are supportive of her and what she wants to do in life. Pei Wen also believes that in these best years of her life, she must do the best things in life. Therefore, she likes to evaluate the things she do in life and she feels that there is a need to be involved in the community because it is very interesting. Pei Wen’s sense of curiosity never fails to help her uncover many different unknown areas that she may not have ever thought of. She is generally a happy-go-lucky person. By thinking positively, she feels full of hope and anticipates to seeing the great future of the youths around her as they take their places to contribute to the society.
17) Huang Yan Ying, Janice, 23, Student (Membership Secretary) Janice took an interest in leadership at age 13. She was elected the Public Relations Committee Chairperson of the Nanyang Girls’ High School Student Council, and was an organising team member of the nationwide Tenth Student Leader’s Convention (X-SLC). She also led the Temasek Junior College Guitar Ensemble as President and First Alto Section Leader. During her stint at the Singapore Institute of Management, Janice served as the Psychology Society’s Publications Department Deputy Director, and was a member of both the Scholars’ Network and the All-Rounder Students Programme. During her term at college, Janice started venturing into grassroots with the aim of helping to forge stronger relations within the community. She strongly believes in the youth movement, and also hopes that more females will step forward to play a greater role in strengthening the foundations of society. Other Appointment:
18) Mohd Faiq Djasin B A R, 24, Student (New Media & Publicity Secretary) Faiq was the Assistant General Secretary of 13th term Eunos CC YEC and member of Eunos Community Emergency & Engagement Committee. He believes that he has the skills and network to contribute towards the YEC and community. One of his goals is to bridge the gap of the community and the government. Faiq has a passion to serve and assist those in need. He hopes to develop the Youth Club to be more popular and encourage more youths to participate and benefit from the activities. Faiq was a member of the bridge leader during his school days and his experience in working as a team has given him a sense of self-satisfaction. During his National Service 2007, he was awarded the Best Enlistee Award and Company Best Award. He also received the CCA Merit Award for his outstanding contributions as a student leader in Secondary School. Faiq loves sports and adventure. He enjoys meeting people and he hopes to help the YEC reach out to more youths in Eunos and Aljunied GRC.
Huzaifi started volunteering with the YEC at the age of 15. He is currently serving a second term with Eunos CC YEC as Adventure Secretary. Before joining the YEC, he was a member of Eunos CC Dragonboat team. Motivated by his peers, Huzaifi developed a passion for serving the community. Huzaifi participated actively in many GRC-level and Constituency-level activities. Over the past 3 years, he and his friends organised interesting activities such as dance parties and policy forums to engage the youth. He also helped organise a Christmas Party for the APSN students. It was a sense of achievement when he saw the smiles from the faces of the beneficiaries from APSN. Huzaifi feels that teamwork is one of the major factors in building an active and successful YEC. He is proud that Eunos CC YEC members had worked hard together to achieve that. He hopes to continue to serve the community and engaging more young residents in Eunos. Other appointment:
20) Ng Chee Jian, 25, Student (Public Relationship Secretary) Chee Jian has been a resident of Eunos for 20 years. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Law at the National University of Singapore where he also volunteers in the NUS Pro Bono Group. He had interned for and participated in researches conducted by government agencies such as Defence Science & Technology Agency (MINDEF) and the Insolvency and Public Trustee’s Office (Ministry of Law). Chee Jian had also been involved in volunteering work for organisations such as National Kidney Foundation Singapore and other community services. Previously, he studied in Temasek Junior College where he was the captain of the school’s Track & Field Team. Chee Jian hopes to organize meaningful activities for the community and also to help the needy. Other Appointment: 21) Ng Yong Quan, 20, Student (Adventure Secretary) Yong Quan graduated from Singapore Polytechnic this year with a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering and a Certificate in Engineering Mathematics. He will be enlisted for National Service soon. He enjoys playing all kinds of sports such as badminton, floorball and football. When he is free, he also does some designing and drawings. Some of his past achievements include being a sectional leader of the National Police Cadet Corps in Tanjong Katong Secondary School and being awarded Gold in his final year project in Singapore Polytechnic. During his polytechnic internship, he worked at the RSAF Paya Lebar Air Base where he got to understand their organisation structures and also worked under one of the Captains for the Super Puma helicopters. Ever since he started volunteering with Eunos CC YEC, he met many wonderful people and he has enjoyed himself volunteering at the various grassroots activities. Yong Quan decided to join YEC because he wants to live an enriching life and he hopes to give back to the society.
22) Nur Atiqah Bte Zainal, 18, Student (Sports & Wellness Secretary) Atiqah decided to join Eunos CC YEC because she wanted to give back to the society. As a local resident, she hopes to do her part for the Eunos community. She enjoys playing soccer and she has a keen interest in photography and megazip. Atiqah is a proud recipient of the MOE Eagles Award 2009 and 2010, and she was part of the team which won in the Fico FAS futsal tournament girls (Champion) and Home Team Academy Plus tournament (second runner-up). In 2009, she participated in a service learning project to Kampar, Malaysia where PAYM Service Learning Club members helped paint the walls of an orphanage to make it more beautiful for the children to use. She realised that there are many people who need help. Thu, she wants to help those in need through the YEC. |
